Oct. 20: Meet Candidates; Pipers Needed

5 things you need to know today.

1. Band Members Needed: The Northport Pipe and Drum Band is recruiting new members and people interested in learning to play the bagpipes. Each year, the band performs throughout the New York metro area including the renowned New York City St. Patrick's Day Parade. For more information go the the group's website.

2. Meet The Candidates Night: The NAACP is sponsoring a at the South Huntington Public Library in Huntington Station. All community residents are welcome to the event which begins at 7 p.m. Thursday.

3. Huntington Crew Fundraiser: Proceeds from the sale of Halloween costumes, candy and food will help support local teams at the Tropical Smoothie Cafe from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at 61 Wall St. in Huntington.
