LI Cares Cites Benefit of Billy Joel concert
Long Island Cares/the Harry Chapin Food Bank said it would be able to provide 113,000 meals because of proceeds from ticket sales from the Billy Joel concert at the Paramount.
Ex-Candidate Arrested
Richard Hall, who tried to win the Working Families Party endorsement for a Town Board spot n the September primary, was arrested Friday and charged with criminal nuisance. Police said he threw a party that attracted more than 500 people in an empty warehouse in Huntington Station. Police said the building lacked fire alarms, sprinklers or sufficient exits. The building bears a sign opposing Town Board member Mark Cuthbertston, who, along with Tracey Edwards, won the Working Families line on the November ballot.
Open for Business
At least six businesses officially opened Tuesday, ranging from restaurants at Walt Whitman Shops to Main Street services. Opening were Zinburger's Wine & Burger Bar and CUPS Yogurt at the mall; downtown, the new businesses were First Heritage Insurance Agency, Triangle Building Products Corp., Celtic Marine Services and Trinity Program MGC.
