Long Island Group Accepting Prom Dress Donations

Several drop off points named in Huntington.

The Long Island Volunteer Center will accept donated prom dresses and accessories at several Huntington locations in April.

All items received will be distributed to girls of families across Long Island who cannot easily absorb the expense of a new gown for their prom, awards ceremony or graduation event, according to event organizers.

High school guidance counselors, at-risk youth agencies, group homes and church outreaches made the program available to more than 1,300 girls from 65 schools and non-profit organizations in 2011, according to the LIVC.
