July 18: Lloyd Harbor Trustees, Project Excel

5 things you need to know today.

1. Government: The Lloyd Harbor board of trustees meets tonight at 8 p.m. at village hall located at 32 middle Hollow Rd.

2. Project Excel: Sponsored by the Huntington Youth Council,  conducts a full day of fun, creative, and educational workshops Mondays and Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 423 Park Ave. in Huntington.

3. Play For a Cure: The Joni Gladowsky Breast Cancer Foundation will be hosting its 7th annual Play for the Cure Golf Outing at The Cold Spring Harbor Country Club in Cold Spring Harbor. The event includes breakfast, 18 holes of golf, après golf cocktails, buffet dinner, auctions and participant gift bags. Register online to secure your foursome.

4. At the Summer Arts Festival this week: This week, the Huntington  in Heckscher Park on the Chapin Rainbow Stage features orchestras, a community band and the vocals of Cyril Neville, one of the New Orleans' Neville Brothers. 

5. Nelson Mandela International Day: On this day, Nelson Mandela's 93rd birthday, the United Nations is joining a call by the Nelson Mandela Foundation for people to devote 67 minutes of their time to helping others, according the the UN website.
