July 11: Huntington Bay Trustees; Poetry Camp

5 Things you need to know today.

1. The Huntington Bay Board of Trustees will meet at 7:30 p.m. today at the located at 244 Vineyard Rd., Huntington Bay. Two trustees will be sworn in after being re-elected last month.

2. The first of two week-long sessions begins today at the Walt Whitman Birthplace. The cost is $100 per child for the session which ends July 15. Inspired by Walt Whitman’s poetry, children ages 8 to 12 will experience a literary, creative, educational, historical and most of all fun adventure.

3. South Huntington Public Library cardholders can register online today starting at 9:30 a.m. for : Cannolis, a class which will run July 27.

4. Congratulations to 14 students at Washington School who were in June for perfect attendance spanning kindergarten through fourth grade.

5. The General Building Laborers Local Union #66 is running a for 20 skilled construction craft laborer apprentices. Applications are available at the Local Union #66, 1600 Walt Whitman Road, Melville, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays of each month, excluding holidays, during the recruitment period.
