John Tesh Dishes to Donna Drake on Long Island

The music entertainer tells Drake, a Huntington Station resident, all about growing up in Garden City.

When media personality Donna Drake recently interviewed John Tesh, the entertainer, TV and radio host spoke about his upbringing in Garden City, and his affection for Long Island.

“I went to Garden City High School,” Tesh told Drake, who resides in Huntington Station. “Actually Garden City High School was a performing arts high school. Really, somebody just forgot to name it [properly].”

“But the school system there was pretty amazing,” added Tesh, class of 1970. “When I got out of school there, I could play three instruments, and I knew how to do a lot of stuff thanks to all the media that was there, even back in the day...I love Long Island.”

Drake’s show, “Live It Up,” is available online and on WLNY TV 10/55, part of the CBS Television Stations group.

This interview, Drake said, was for Red Touch Media’s Future of Content series. With offices in New York, the company produces digital content management and distribution.

Drake said she met Tesh at a NAPTE trade show, which serves the international television community.

“I went to his booth and invited him to be on ‘Live It Up,’” she said. “I explained that my show features good news and uplifting tips very similar to his radio show. He said he'd love to come on. So Red Touch invited me to share their booth space and paid for the camera crew and the editing and featured my TV show doing segments from their booth."
