Jan. 30: BOE; Job Connection

5 things you need to know today.

1. BOE Meeting: The Huntington School Board meets Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Jack Abrams Intermediate School.

2. Job Connection: Representatives from Stony Brook's Human Resources Department be on hand at the Huntington Public Library Monday at 7 p.m. to give tips on searching for both New York State and SUNY Stony Brook jobs. They will describe the JOBS website, provide information on the state civil service process and share tips for preparing your resume.

3. Beginner Tap Lessons: Ever thought about learning to tap dance? Now might be a good time. Adults only for this terrific mind-body workout, in basic beginner tap class. Call or email to reserve a spot. Tap shoes available to borrow. Louise Rastu, co-director for The Red Hot Mamas, will be teaching this fun and energetic class Monday at A Lifetime of Dance studio Monday at 10 a.m. Admission $15.

4. Home Study For GED: Learn about free, at-home study program (e.g., BOCES GRASP) for adults 21 and over who would like to prepare for the GED exam, but are unable to attend classes on a regular basis. Certified instructors will provide individual assignments for home completion. Pick up assignments at Huntington Public Library Station Branch. Assistance by telephone is also available.
