Huntington Station Loses Power

Utility says power restored to businesses, homes and schools.

Scores of customers in Huntington lost electric power Monday morning, among them several school buildings in the South Huntington district.

PSEG said it is investigating the outages that affect about 459 customers in the Huntington area, mostly around the triangle area and Walt Whitman Shops. Spokesman Jeff Weir said that some outages lasted up to 97 minutes before power was restored in Huntington.

Birchwood, Memorial, Countrywood and the District Office all lost power for varying amounts of time but were restored.

About six thousand customers in Babylon also lost power for a brief period, while customers in Wyandanch and West Babylon were also out for less than an hour.
