Harry Chapin Celebrated Tonight at Heckscher

Harry Chapin: A Celebration of Song honors Huntington singer.

Marking 30 years since the death of hometown Huntington entertainer and social activist, friends and family will gather to honor the life and contributions of Harry Chapin.

Chapin's daughter, two brothers and others will celebrate the music and life of the singer who was killed in a car crash on the Long Island Expressway.

The event is collaboration among the Huntington Arts Council, the Town of Huntington, Long Island Cares and the Folk Music Society of Huntington.

The concert begins at 8:30 p.m. on the Chapin Rainbow Stage. The park is located at 2 Prime Ave. at Route 25A.

Long Island Cares is encouraging concert goers to bring canned goods to be donated to charity.
