Gay Pride Parade, Festival on Track

Debbie Gibson highlights entertainment lineup Saturday.

Organizers of Saturday's gay pride parade are promising a big turnout for the march and festival in Heckscher Park.

The parade will step off from the parking lot at the senior center/Cinema Arts Centre  at noon, head north to Main Street, and west to Prime Avenue. As the parade ends, Pridefest will get underway at Heckscher Park, running until 6 p.m.

The festival will include entertainment, headlined by Debbie Gibson, a VIP Lounge sponsored by TD Bank, gourmet food trucks, a beer and wine garden, health pavilion, a family and children's area and information booths.

Other entertainers include Robin S., Janice Robinson, Aunt BarbaraDJ Steve Fog, Amber Ferrari, Angelo Garcia, SirPaul and Shadina.

Rain is in the forecast for Saturday morning, but Long Island Pride said the event will go on regardless.

Because of parking concerns, the YMCA is asking members to show their ID cards Saturday to enter the lot.

The chief sponsor of the event is Bethpage Federal Credit Union. Other sponsors are  Microsoft, North Shore-LIJ and TD Bank.
