Family Service League has been awarded $200,000 by the Robin Hood Foundation to cover direct relief expenses, provide mental health services and tax/benefit assistance to individuals and families affected by Hurricane Sandy.
“Many Suffolk County residents are still struggling after the storm,” said Karen Boorshtein, FSL’s president and CEO. “Robin Hood’s support is allowing FSL to provide direct disaster support and mental health services to Suffolk County’s most vulnerable residents.”
With Robin Hood’s grant, Family Service League will cover direct relief losses not covered by insurance or FEMA, including repairs and replacement of essentials, for approximately 350 families.

The grant will also provide mental health services for 200 individuals as well as tax return preparation and benefit assistance for 1,000 families.
The Robin Hood Foundation assists impoverished New Yorkers and maintains an emergency relief fund.
