Local author Scott Starkey understands what it takes to get kids to read. A 5th grade teacher for over 16 years. he's had plenty of firsthand experience exploring the reading habits of students. The elements they enjoy best in a book - humor, suspense, and a dash of irreverence - are woven into his new middle grade novel, How to Beat the Bully Without Really Trying. In his debut novel, the tables have turned and the perennially bullied kid is unexpectedly victorious! Families of school-aged children are invited to come to the Harborfields Library to meet the author. Mr. Starkey will read excerpts from his book, and have copies available for purchase and signing.
