Advent Lessons and Carols

The Diocesan Choir of Rockville Centre will present Advent Lessons and Carols on Saturday, Dec. 4, at 4 p.m. at the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception in Huntington.

The Rev. Msgr. Peter Vaccari, seminary rector, will preside. The 50-minute service consists of scripture readings, choral anthems, and hymns from the Advent season, which proclaim hope to a world waiting in darkness. The members of the 120-voice Diocesan Choir come from parishes through out Nassau and Suffolk counties.

Lessons and Carols is modeled after a service at Kings College, Cambridge, in England. Dating from Medieval times, this tradition has been used as a unique way to celebrate the story of Jesus coming among us.
