Best of the Huntington Blogs in 2013

Patch takes a look at the events of the last year.

Huntington is a thriving community of people with opinions on, and knowledge of, seemingly everything.

Here are a few of our homegrown can't-miss blogs from 2013:

Huntington school district. Jim Hoops takes us on trips down memory lane, and keeps us up to date on the most recent budget or school board development. Even if you don't live in the school district, he's a goldmine of information about Huntington history.

Ann Rita Darcy.  A distinctive, often amusing voice about life, mostly in Huntington, but sometimes elsewhere. Her blog about working hard for low wages is particularly poignant.

Halesite Fire Department. The department provides periodic service announcements, details on seasonal safety issues, and information about the activities in the department.

Richard Silverman, aka, Rain Rich. Lawn aeration, gutter cleaning, and poison ivy are all topics covered this year by this blog.

Lydia Cox, The Beauty Nurse. She writes about cosmetic and beauty tips, from caring for skin in the winter to what to pack up for summer adventures.

Gardens Gone Wild. Denise Meehan writes about gardening with native plants, butterflies, mulch and more.

Jeri Usbay. Technology is demystified on this blog, with the author tackling such timely issues as how to retain power in your electronic devices.
