This Season, "Spend" the Holidays at Home in Huntington

The Holiday season is alive and well in Huntington as the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce, Huntington BID and merchants throughout each of Huntington’s hamlets offer special events, numerous sales, and an abundance of incentives and exciting programs to help celebrate the holidays at home.  The festivities will begin on Small Business Saturday, an American shopping celebration created by American Express to support local retailers which will be held on the Saturday following Thanksgiving, November 24.  The event encourages shoppers to visit small, local businesses throughout the country and support merchants by "Buying Local."  Last year more than 100 million people shopped at local,  small businesses throughout the country during the event.  Participating merchants throughout Huntington are offering spectacular gifts and great deals.   And, American Express is offering card members a chance to get a $25 statement credit when they enroll their eligible American Express card and use it to spend $25 or more at eligible businesses on Small Business Saturday - another great reason to shop locally.

Huntington and surrounding Villages will come alive with holiday music, festive decorations and free parking for visitors and shoppers during the holiday season.   “Huntington has so much to offer,  providing a personal touch to the shopping experience.  With great sales, wonderful boutiques, fine restaurants and so much more, you cannot go wrong,” said Robert Bontempi, Huntington Chamber Chairman.   “Our local merchants offer a great selection of gifts for any age and any budget,” he continued.

And if you're looking for a great way to celebrate the holiday season, after shopping, consider staying a little longer in one of the many towns that make up the Huntington community.  There are  many highlighted attractions this season.  For example, Small Business Saturday in Huntington Village will culminate with a great holiday celebration as Long Island's biggest electric light holiday & float contest takes place during the Huntington Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting at 7:00 pm.  Plenty of  favorite holiday characters will stop by Huntington followed by a special visit from Santa Claus.  There will be free parking with convenient shuttle from the train station, horse& buggy rides, refreshments and more.   The parade starts at New York Ave and Oakland St and ends at Main St at Wall St.

On Friday, November 23 at 6 pm, the Third Annual Huntington Harbor Parade of Lights will take place which features boats lit with holiday decorations.  The Parade of Lights will make its way through Huntington Harbor and can be viewed from any place on the shore for free.  It is a spectacular way to kick-off the holiday season.   “The holiday season in Huntington Township is truly spectacular with so many special activities that celebrate our rich history, cultural diversity and unique local businesses,” added Bontempi. “I invite everyone to join in the holiday celebration in Huntington, where’s there’s no place like home.”

Does the Patch accept articles from district spokespeople? Perhaps that is the answer to thisRead More problem! Short but informative articles can be submitted each week and then Huntington could get the coverage it so desires. Each town's Patch would cover whichever high schools are in it's area. Problem solved!

Maybe St Anthony's gets more coverage b/c they "advertise" with the Patch?? Sad, but youRead More know how it goes, whoever fills the pocket, gets the attention!!

They do have the metal inside and they are all the same size. If you are seriously interested I willRead More gladly send you some more pictures. As far as the price, the best I can do is a bundle. Maybe 4 for $100 or 2 for $60. They were looked at by a store owner who wanted to purchase and sell in her store for $50 each. They are very cute, very trendy :)

Do they have the metal inside that held the glass bottles? Are they different sizes? It's hard toRead More tell from the pic. I would definitely buy 2 or 3 but, I wouldn't be able to pay 40.00 each. 20-25 each I can do. Thanks, Karen

I have no idea why the Patch isn't covering any of this. Go Huntington!

I would love to become part of the Huntington Chamber of Commerce. However, for a new business itRead More is costly and may not fit into every new business owners budget. May I suggest a provisional 1-year membership at a reduced cost. Once successful the provisional members can give back by supporting other new members.
