Repair Program Available to Senior Citizens

Suffolk Legislator Lou D’Amaro is pleased to inform Huntington senior citizens about a town-based program designed to help them maintain and stay in their homes.  Run under the auspices of the Town of Huntington’s Senior Citizens Division, the Residential Repair Program offers free craftsmen who are available by appointment to provide simple home repairs and installations for residents aged 60 and older.  Many services are provided, with the exception of those that require the skills of a licensed craftsman.

“Owning and maintaining a home can be a tremendous physical and financial burden,” said Legislator D’Amaro.  “This program reduces some of our elderly residents’ concerns about maintenance and makes it easier for seniors to stay in the homes that they have lived and raised their families in for their entire lives.”

Eligible residents must reside in the Town of Huntington, own their own homes and live alone or with other seniors.  Appointments can be made by calling (631) 351-3253.  The program offers simple maintenance and repair services like cleaning gutters, fixing faucets and installing special-needs hand rails and smoke alarms.  Clients are responsible for the cost of the materials but the installation and repair work is free.

“I urge all eligible Huntington seniors to take advantage of this program, which is designed to provide the kind of work that will help them keep their homes from falling into disrepair,” D’Amaro said.

I would love to become part of the Huntington Chamber of Commerce. However, for a new business itRead More is costly and may not fit into every new business owners budget. May I suggest a provisional 1-year membership at a reduced cost. Once successful the provisional members can give back by supporting other new members.

Do they have the metal inside that held the glass bottles? Are they different sizes? It's hard toRead More tell from the pic. I would definitely buy 2 or 3 but, I wouldn't be able to pay 40.00 each. 20-25 each I can do. Thanks, Karen
