Controlling the Masses

Controlling the Masses

William Pepper is an attorney, journalist and author. He was a friend of Martin Luther King in the last year of his life. His article, “The Children of Vietnam” published in 1967 helped inspire King to come out against the war in Vietnam. He investigated and has written books about the assassinations of King and Robert Kennedy. He has also been involved in court cases that have cast doubt on the accepted versions of the King and Kennedy assassinations.

He was one of the speakers at a 9/11 event that took place this year in Times Square in New York City on September 11th. I was present and taped his talk and here is what he said. I’ve edited it slightly to make it clearer in a few places. I was so affected by his talk that I decided to reproduce it here. The title above is mine. Pepper began his talk without a title.

I’ve come here really to pay respect to Richard Gage and the Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth for all they have done to shed light on this horrific event in American History. I think it goes without saying that the world has become a very different place since 9/11.

Throughout most of organized society’s history, the masters of society have used a variety of tactics and techniques to dominate and control the mass of their people. Remember, there are 2 roads to power, one, money, the other is numbers. They certainly control the money, but if they cannot control the numbers there can be substantive meaningful change. But if they can divide, if they can misinform, I they can desensitize the masses of people and keep them splintered apart , and subvert them, then they will continue, these masters, to rule over us as they have ruled over every society in the history of human’s social organization.

Now what are their tactics? One major tactic, of course, is disinformation and misinformation. They do everything they can to propagate and perpetuate that reality so the people are not really aware of what is going on and what has happened. Disinformation, this aspect of education of the masses begins at a very early age.  I brought my 3 year old with me today. She fortunately fell asleep in the car on the way here, so she’s still sleeping in the car with a babysitter. But the concern I have for them, and the 3 children of an earlier marriage, who were raised in England is that the early education is so terribly important. And in this country from beginning to end of the education system, there is a mantra and there is disinformation.

I left America for twenty years when I worked on the King case. I left it because of the threats, not only on me but particularly on my children, who didn’t need to be raised in this kind of environment, so I took them to Cambridge, England. Eventually I went to teach at the other place, Oxford. They were excluded from a lot of what I’m afraid most of our children in this country cannot avoid. But disinformation begins in the education system, but it goes on in media. Now we know what happens in media. Going back to the beginning of this republic, the official public news that comes out becomes sanitized and becomes acceptable for the masses to have.

In 1915, J.P. Morgan decided that it had to be formalized, so he identified 70 print newspapers that had to be controlled. That started the formal control 2 years after the Federal Reserve Bank was created. Not a real central bank, but a bank owned by 11 other private institutions to protect and preserve that power away from characters such as Andrew Jackson who wanted to do away with it a century earlier. They started to control the media then. They continued to control the media down to the present day. Carl Bernstein, actually, in a moment of weakness taught they do it by having 400 people engaged in major media corporations, from stringers up to publishers, with the key people being editors who make  the decisions as to what gets printed and what doesn’t get printed. So the print media is well under wraps. Salsburger’s grandfather gave Allen Dulles 12 slots on the New York Times in 1959. These slots on the New York Times have been rotated to different people. We, off and on, understand who some of them are. Some of them are very deep cover journalists, very much with a liberal orientation and bent, so when they say the government is right about something, the people will say, oh well it must be so because look what so and so said. So that’s the reality of print.

Then along comes cable and we say here’s a breath of fresh air, right. Look what has happened to cable television, how it has been gobbled up and how it has been controlled, so the Richard’s Gage’s of this world work hard to bring out the truth, not only about Building 7, but about the ramifications of the entire debacle, are never heard in the mainstream. It is very rare. One major anchor said to me, at one point she said, “Bill it’s just not worth my job. I’ve got 2 kids to raise. I have all these problems. I just can’t do it.” It’s the common perspective of people who get co-opted and who have mortgages and who have children to educate. So they are brought into the fold, and they will not go astray, except in rare instances, and then they’re sent to Coventry.*  Brian Gumble made a mistake. Once he interviewed me for 2 segments, rather than one. We were going over the King matter. He was very hostile in the first segment. Somehow something clicked within him and he cancelled his next guest and we spent another 7 minutes, and the hostility went away and the questions were more significant. But Brian soon after that, it’s history, was offered a job at CBS. He goes off to CBS and he lasts there for a little while. I hope he’s making a good living, but he’s certainly not having the impact he could have had.

Okay, the visual media, the cable media, slowly gets wrapped up, and they will not entertain these kinds of issues. So we’ve lost, of course the networks, and now we’ve lost cable, and we have internet primarily, and of course they’re going to do everything they can to control the internet. That’s the next target. So that’s number one. This tactic of misinforming and manipulating has been used since the  Sumerians. Greece and Rome were controlled the very same way this population is being controlled. That’s number one.

What is the second thing they do? Well there’s such a thing as false flags. How many of you know what a false flag operation is? This country has had more than its share, going back to the Maine and the Philippines and of course Cuba. In 1953 it had a false flag that related to the popularly elected Mossadegh in Iran, so that Anglo Americans could control that oil. Then there was in closer proximity to us, the Gulf of Tonkin false flag. Mr. Johnson said there was an attack on American ships by the Vietnamese, and therefore we had to go to war against Vietnam. And on it goes. There’s the Murrah building in Oklahoma City. And I daresay, I have not been involved in the type of research that Richard Gage and his people have with respect to not only Building 7, but 9/11 in general. But I dare say, from those that I know were close to it, was clearly another false flag as probably was the first World Trade Center bombing.

So that is what they do. They raise false flags to mobilize public support for all kinds of nefarious operations. The masters, the people who never come forward, who are in the background, buy and sell the elective representatives and more importantly intelligence and law enforcement officials who become their soldiers.

So here’s the danger. The danger is that the work of Richard Gage, the architects and engineers, and the work of all the people who have come forward and tried to relate the truth will invite the third thing they do to keep control over a population. That is to kill off all potential leaders when the reach a point where they are serious threats. Only then do they use assassination, but they do it.  They killed Martin because he was going to bring half a million people to Washington, and not to march, no marches any more. They were going to camp there and go up to the hill and talk to their representatives. The military was afraid it would turn into a revolution which they couldn’t put down, so they had to kill Martin and would never let him leave Memphis.

Bobby was killed because he was going to dramatically end the war and was going to reopen the investigation of what happened to his brother. He was going to quit the oil depletion allowance and end it forever. Bobby was too dangerous and they had to kill him. I was very close to Martin Luther King during the last year of his life and I ran Bob Kennedy’s campaign as a citizen chairman as a kid from Westchester County in ‘64 when he ran for the senate in this state, so Bobby and I also were close. In these cases there’s a bit of personal attachment.

Now I’m into my third political assassination. I avoided it for 2 years, but finally Peter Janney convinced me, after following me for 2 years. He convinced me to represent him in the case of Mary Meyer. Most of you don’t know who Mary Meyer was, the most important woman in 20th century American history in my view. She had amazing courage. She was John Kennedy’s only true love. He told Kenny O’Donnell  he was going to marry her after the second term. She was in the White House 40 times in October before they killed him in November. Mary Meyer turned him into a warrior for peace, as opposed to an advocate for the cold war. She had turned him around so much that it scared a lot of people around the president. She had been married to Cord Meyer, a deputy director of the CIA. She divorced him in 1957, took up with Jack Kennedy in 60,61.

When they killed Jack Kennedy she waited for the Warren Commission report to come out. When it came out she was so appalled that she did something that perhaps practically she should not have done. She went to her former husband and she said to him if you and your buddies do not reveal how Jack Kennedy was really killed, I am going to blow the whistle on you and Jim Angleton. Angleton, another senior CIA guy, had been the godfather of 3 of her children. They couldn’t allow that to happen and so she was assassinated. It was a political assassination on a tow path in Georgetown, Washington. To this day it’s an unsolved murder. They found a black guy. They tried to pin it on him but it didn’t work, so it’s an unsolved murder. So we have taken that case. I have filed a lawsuit last Friday against the one living CIA operative who we believe had a role to play in that assassination.

So, they misinform. They do everything they can to divide. They use false flags to raise the consensus of the population, and ultimately co-opt if they can, and they kill if it becomes necessary. And someone who refuses to be co-opted like Pete Seeger, an old old friend of mine, gets barred from the airways for the better part of a decade. You’re never allowed to record, to sing to the American people until he’s well into his 70’s and 80’s. So those are the tactics they use.

So now here is danger that Richard’s work, that the work we’ve done on political assassinations, that the work of all of you with respect to trying to change this corrupt and sick and dysfunctional society, will be swept into t he rubbish bin of history as they try to outlast us. That is the danger. To figure out how to perpetuate the truth so that future generations will know about them, that’s what we really have to be about.

Okay, thank you all for coming here.
