More About Huntington Public Library

Huntington Public Library

Huntington Public Library

338 Main St, Huntington, NY
631-427-5165

With roots dating back to 1759, Huntington Public Library was one of the first public libraries in Suffolk County.  Back then, thirty-nine people joined together to form the first circulating library in Huntington with Reverend Ebenezer Prime as the first “library-keeper.”

Today, with its main building in Huntington Village and a branch in Huntington Station, the not-for-profit organization serves 34,000 residents of the Huntington Public Library District and School District 3, endeavoring to meet the needs and interests of a very diverse community.

As the heart and soul of a library, books of many kinds and many formats are available, including an increasingly popular downloadable collection of audiobooks and eBooks. For research needs, subscription databases provide high quality information sources that are a valuable alternative to the free internet. Electronic resources, including the online catalog, are available 24 hours a day at the Library’s website.

In its expanding role as a community center, the Library provides programs and services for all ages and stages of life. Within its walls, people can discover new books, seek answers to questions, use a Wi-Fi-connected laptop or one of numerous public computers, chance upon an eye-opening cultural event, engage in a stimulating discussion, and build new relationships.

Visit the website, and read the online newsletter, to get a taste of what’s going on!  www.thehuntingtonlibrary.org.
