Flees scene in Toyota with Hello Kitty seat covers, according to police.
Suffolk Police are searching for a man who stole a car engine from an auto repair shop in Huntington. According to police, a white male was observed on surveillance video Jan. 19 taking a Subaru car engine from Auto Tech, at 116 Spring Rd. in Huntington. The man loaded the engine into his vehicle, possibly a white Toyota Matrix with Hello Kitty seat covers, according to police, before fleeing the scene at about 10:30 p.m. Anyone with information is asked to call 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential, according to police.

Huntington to see no change from Komen contributions as a result of recent decision.
Planned Parenthood in Huntington said Friday the decision of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure charity to reverse course and not cut a "fairly small" amount of funding on a national level will have little to no effect in Huntington. Although reaction against the decision was immediate and intense across social and mainstream media Friday, Komen is actually not a big contributor to Planned Parenthood, according Beverly Katz, director of marketing, communications and media relations at Planned Parenthood in Huntington. Breakfast with Santa Program a record-breaking success in 2011.
Applebee’s announced Monday its Breakfast with Santa program in Huntington generated $6,300 this past holiday season as part of a record-breaking year in Long Island for the U.S. Marine Corps Toys For Tots program. All proceeds from the event were donated to the USMC program which provides thousands of needy children with a joyful holiday. The dollars raised in each community directly benefit that local community, according to Applebee's representatives. In Suffolk County, nearly $100,000 was raised, according to the company. For 13 years, Applebee's has contributed more than $2.7 millionn to the Toys For Tots event nationally. Neighborhood Applebee’s in Long Island contributed $322,500 in 2011.
