1. 2011 String Poet Awards Ceremony at the Long Island Violin Shop, 8 Elm Street, Huntington. Annabelle Moseley hosts the ceremony, which features a reading from contest judge Pat Fargnoli, former New Hampshire Poet Laureate, and contest winner Pramila Venkateswaran reading her winning poem, "Kummi Dance". Beth Anderson, who composed the music for the prize, will perform her piece, accompanied by David Wong on violin. For reservations

 2. YMCA Carnival: The Memorial Day weekend carnival is in full-swing at the: , 60 Main St, Huntington, from 6 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. The event runs through Monday, May 30. Live entertainment tonight at 7 p.m.

3. Wii tournament registration: Where: , 145 Pidgeon Hill Rd., Huntington Station, at 9:30 a.m. Online registration begins today for the June 10 Wii tournament at the South Huntington Public Library. For those in 6th grade and up only.
