That's what muslims do—they move in and slowly take over. Not good for Long Island.

LOL...That's what African Americans did in the 70's, right? That's what Hispanics did in the 90's, right? That's what White's did in the 1800's when the Native Americans were the majority. If there isn't room on Long Island for everyone, it isn't part of America.

Theres plenty of room for all people to live in peace on the Island and not force their ways onto others.
For those who cannot live in a multi cultural society with freedom for every religion to practice equally...then stay the hell out of America.

The key issue here is assimilation. Some do, most do not. Like every group before them, thet too have a rough tome here for obvious reasons, but like the Irish, Japanese, Italians and Jews before them, it to shall pass.

Islam is not only religion or an ethnic group. It is a totalitarian society that looks to dominate not co-exist. The teachings on Mohammed go beyond the spiritual and extend to forms of government and domination of other faiths and societies. You only have to look to what happened to the Dutch and their initial embrace of Muslims as part of their pluralistic society. They are in a crisis today with the conflict with Islam.

Unlike real religions, Islam is a Political Movement..

If you are unfortunate enough to live in an Islamic State, you have the options of convert or die.

Yet, people insist we are a CHRISTIAN nation! I guess Christianity is a political movement as well, then.

Nice snipe Andrew. Being that the founding fathers were Christian, and that the Declaration of Indep. and Bill of Rigts have Christian tenants in them doesn't mean (like extreme Islam) we advocate Sharia Law or prohibit other religions from establishing places of worship. People came to America downtrodden, looking to better themselves and the lives of their families, including my ancestors. This is the most giving, most tolerant, and the country that offers the most to fulfill free will. It seems you have a bone to pick. I am sorry you don't appreciate assimilation and the original tenants our Founding Fathers constructed for the benefit for all.

Andrew B. Herzman: "we are a CHRISTIAN nation! "

.
Really?
.
Why did Obama give a speech saying that, "The U.S. is NOT a Christian Nation?"
.
Please Explain.

Because Barack Obama, aside from being the most divisive, leaderless and incompetant President of our time is a Muslim, and like our good friend Andrew is a secular " It's all America's fault" guy who has disdain for his country like Obama.

Can't you put your hatred on pause, even for one day?

And again, you should try checking and emphasizing facts over hyperbole when you try to form cogent arguments. Obama actually said: "Whatever we once were, we are no longer just a Christian nation; we are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, a Hindu nation, and a nation of nonbelievers."

Andrew Islam is more than a religion, it is a totalitarian society that has as it's underpinning Its faith. If you go to the cradle of Islam, Saudi Arabia, where it is practiced in it's purest form, women are subservient and other faiths not tolerated. If someone who practices Islam leaves their faith and becomes a Christian or a aJew or whatever, that is punished by death. It's the only religion that has that tenet. All religions are flawed due to the actions and failing of the men and women who practice the religion. Islam is more than a religion as it stipulates the type of government, societal norms that must be followed. Thus their is no room for plurality.

Noone in America ever got the death penalty for changing religions. You are mixing religion and foreign laws.

It is not only The 19-There are muslims blowing up Americans and their own people
almost daily. Why is there not a LOUD outcry from the our Muslim residents? could
this be a reason Muslims profiled and feared by the general public?

Joe, when left wing drivel is thrust upon me, no, not for one day. Obama's statement was absurd. This country welcomes all. 88% of the U.S. Population is Christian. That fact should have no affect on the freedom of expression of the other 12%. A tiny minority try every year try to abolish Christian Holiday's.

Sir, my reply was directed at another poster whose repetitive comments are frequently filled with inaccuracies that, while intended to strengthen his position, actually do the opposite. You too might wish to check the 2008 U.S. Census, which records that 76% of adults are self-described Christians, not 88%.

Um, how do they try to "abolish" holidays? Let me guess, they took the Christ out of Christmas? They wished you a happy holiday? Wow.

Calling Obama a Muslim is like a Jr. High kid calling a classmate gay. There is nothing wrong with being Muslim or Gay. So stop acting like it's some horrable thing to be called a Muslim. Grow up.

.

Here’s the Proof that Barack Mohamed Obama is a “Real” Christian.

1) For 20-years, he attended the Church of the Racist, Bigot, Ant-Semite, American-Hating, Psycho, Rev. Wright.
.
2) For 20-years, he was spoon-feed a steady diet of America-Hating Lies built around Black Liberation Marxist ideology.

What more proof than that do you need, that he’s a Christian?

Andrew your post on no one has had the death penalty in the US for changing religions is missing the point. There are no laws in foreign countries requiring death for changing religions. It is the practice of Islam in the cradle of Islam being saudi a Arabia and surrounding countries near Mecca. Islam in the US follow the same Koran as Saudi Arabia. It is not only a religion but a totalitarian society covering spiritual and societal norms. The law of Islam is what calls for the death of a Muslim who leaves the Islamic faith for Christianity or Judiaism or whatever. You need to have a greater understandingnof Islam before you post such naive positions

This is probably why a comments section should not be left under certain articles, because then people tend to hide behind their computers promoting hate speech, but would never have the guts to say it to the Muslim guy who works in the cubicle right next to him. I am Muslim, live in Long Beach, pay my taxes, work hard, and I'm active in the community. Seeing some of the comments on here are just plain sickening, and truthfully it is pretty sad to see a lot of them not being censored, these people are no better than the morons over in the middle east who do the exact same thing, just with different people. It's just crazy to see people too lazy to do research, or talk to their Muslim peers, or pick up a book or do something. People are just too eager to hate, hmm, wasn't it Hitler who put the whole Nazi regime on the sole basis that God told him to do it as a Christian? Aren't most people , including myself, smart enough to know that is just plain ridiculous to even believe? So I don't understand, why decades later when we are a lot smarter, tend to just spew out lies and hate. I'm sure people will comment under here saying that I'm an awful person as well because I am Muslim, etc. so be it, you can have the last word, I really don't care. I am not a fan of Obama, never was, but to say he is a Muslim is just ignorant and dumb, and that honestly cannot really be believed. It is just sad that some jerk-offs overseas did their job by turning others against me as a person..wow.

Read "Infidel" by Ayaan Hirsi Ali and "Growing up bin Laden" by Osama Bin Laden's sister. Both describe the true Islam as practiced in and around Mecca.

It sounds to me that NOT allowing comments under certain articles, based upon the Patch Editorial staff common sense approach (hopefully), is in order going forward. I, for one, am not please to read many of these uniformed, short-sighted comments. On this horrific day of rememberance, maybe we should work on doing something good and productive - like how this day had turned outas a day to do something for someone else less fortunate than ourselves.

To the Patch Editorial Board - please give this idea some serious consideration. This spread of hatred has to come to an end.
