Algieri Defeats Smith at Paramount [VIDEO]
St. Anthony’s graduate wins unaminous decision after 8 rounds; remains unbeaten.
Rising boxing star and Greenlawn resident Chris Algieri told the press he'd look to end every fight inside the distance before Saturday's Star Boxing Card at the Paramount.
Algieri looked for the knockout early, and found a durable opponent in Atlanta's Curtis Smith (10-5, 5 KO), who had never been stopped.
After four lively rounds, Algieri took control of the action, and the fight's pace, and began to operate like a surgeon, outworking Smith to a unanimous decision victory after 8 rounds. Judges Robin Taylor and Ron Mcnair scored the bout 80-72 for Algieri, and Judge John Mckaie scored the bout 78-74 for the Huntingtonian.
Algieri said after the bout that he expects to be back in the ring in March, possibly again at the Paramount.
