From South Huntington to the village, area crime continues to dominate the headlines in recent months.
Growing frustration with the Suffolk County Police Department and crime came to a head at a recent meeting in Huntington Station following triple shootings Nov. 27 and a string of incidents throughout the area during the summer months. At the meeting, locals voiced concerns regarding alleged supression of the freedom of information by cops and Town of Huntington officials, police treatment of residents and crime statistics.
Question: What is your opinion of the overall service of officers of the Second Precinct in Huntington? Let us know in the comment section.

The police are doing a good job considering what they are up against in the Huntington area. Just look at the pmioor decision to put a miniature golf & arcade near the train station in the heart of a huge crime area. It will be a breeding ground for crime on any hot summer day or night. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE S.C.P.D (STAY SAFE)

Enforcement is the best preventative to crime. Our local precinct is woefully short on staff. Crimes of a dramatic nature and petty crimes like graffiti and traffic infractions that slowly rob us of our liberties run rampant in Huntington. I'm amazed at how well the 2nd Precinct performs with so little support from Suffolk County.
Well said Mr. Livingston... Bravo! Bravissimo!!

Although I agree that we need to have things to do in the area for our children, I think they could have chosen a better place to put it. We will see how it turns out!!!

Too much focus on traffic safety not enought focus on making a presence among young people in the community.

Anyone who drives a car can tell you that the police could put a lot more focus on traffic safety.

I think that the police should patrol more than they do, they only arrive to take a report.
If the police pulled over more people for basic traffic law violations and enforced parking violations they could make this a more law abiding area. And to the police officers, I have heard so many times that you(not all) have a bad attitude from many people. What is wrong ? You have great jobs so public relations should be easy, just saying what people say.
