POLL: Most Romantic Spot for Valentine’s Day Dinner?
Where are you making your Valentine’s Day reservations?
Looking for a romantic spot to enjoy the company of your lover this Valentine's Day? These local restaurants all offer the perfect combination of fine food, quality drinks, smoldering surroundings, and an intimate vibe:
- Huntington Social: A recently opened gastropub and lounge drawing influence from prohibition-era drink parlors, Huntington Social serves seasonal American fare, including burgers, soups, salads, appetizers, seafood, entrees and more prepared by Chef Chris Lee.
- Prime: Waterfront views take center stage at this steak house with a large wine list serving "Manhattan quality" cuts of beef, seafood, and sushi.
- Vitae Restaurant and Wine Bar: Vitae Restaurant & Wine Bar offers guests a broad spectrum of beautifully presented food and wine, surrounded by a cool, cutting-edge atmosphere. The menu features a variety or pasta dishes, salads, steaks and chops, all accompanied by more than 100 different wines, with approximately 25 available by the glass, and a full bar stocked with fine scotches, cognacs and specialty cocktails, as well as its own distinct food menu.
- Maroni's: Since 1996, Maroni Cuisine's cozy setting has set an intimate backdrop for lunch and dinner. The restaurant offers no formal menu; instead the staff provides diners with a general listing of dishes, and recommends sampling the tasting menu. Maroni Cuisine earned the highest praise from Zagat's 2007/2008 survey. Cash only.
- Bistro 44: Located right on Main Street in Northport, Bistro 44 serves a wide variety of food. Menu items include burgers, steaks, specialty salads and more. A $19 prix fixe menu is offered Monday - Saturday from 11:30am - 4pm; Sunday features "Dinner All Day."
- Northport Tasting Room & Wine Cellar: This shop has a variety of wines and beer available for tastings and purchase. Delicious pizzas are also now available. Be sure to visit the shop's website to view current events, which include live music.
Perhaps fine restaurants aren't your idea of romance, and you prefer to get take out or have a low key dinner at home-- maybe you got really creative and you're having dinner on a jet to Paris-- or maybe you're dining alone or with friends.

Vitae is pretty sexy when it's not crowded. There's a vampy vibe about the place.

Huntington Social is super romantic! They are running a special Valentine's Day five-course tasting menu (paired with the best cocktails, wines and beers) created and prepared by Chef Christopher Lee himself! I hope my boyfriend surprises me and takes me to HS on Tuesday because if he does, he'll definitely be rewarded ;)

The Northport Tasting Room is closed? I thought so when I walked by this weekend and saw the wine store empty. I had hoped they were just renovating. What a shame. Went a number of times this summer and enjoyed it- the owner seemed really hands-on and hardworking. Sorry to see it go.

J Michaels (next to the Bank of America on Ft Salonga Rd) is the best restaurant to hit the Northport area in years. The food and service are unbelievable. It's a special place to take your "favorite" person.

Red is my favorite restaurant in Huntington village. And it wouldn't have to be Valentine's Day to be a special dinner there for me!
