PHOTOS: Matisyahu Performs at The Paramount

Spiritual reggae-rock artist headlined at the Huntington venue Monday evening.

American-base reggae-rock performer Matisyahu lit up the stage at The Paramount Theater in Huntington Monday night following the release of his latest album, "Spark Seeker" last Friday.

In recent months, Matisyahu, born Matthew Paul Miller, has been surrounded by controversy after publicly denouncing his Hasidic religion, shaving his beard and shedding his black suit. Early Tuesday morning, Matisyahu posted on his Facebook fan page:

"To all of those who are continuously posting about my "selling out", ie loss of beard and change of clothing. I have a couple thoughts for ya: firstly did it ever occur to you that I didn't change my look for commercial reasons but actually made the choice for myself? Have any of you ever had a beard for a decade? Have you ever worn a black suit in July in NYC?

"Please people, I love you. Just chill with all the judgements. My heart aches every time I read this stuff. I want to go on my Facebook page and connect with people with out reading the garbage. If my music ever gave you anything I hope it's to be more kind, less judgemental and more accepting. Shalom."

Matisyahu will continue his tour with California rockers, The Dirty Heads, Wednesday evening in Buffalo.
