Opinion: Jackson Thanks Supporters, Staff

Outgoing Town Board Member says life enriched by service to the community.

Dear Friends and Supporters:

Thank you for the enthusiasm, support, dedication and friendship that you have given me during my tenure on the town board. It has truly been an honor and a privilege for me to serve as your Councilwoman.  I am forever grateful for having been granted this wonderful opportunity.

I've worked very hard and would have welcomed the chance to serve the people of Huntington for another term, however, the voters have spoken and the time has come for me to move on.

My hope is that you will stay involved in the political process and the wonderful democracy that we are so blessed to enjoy in this country. My representation on the town board is an excellent example of how the Town of Huntington has made strides toward progress and full representation. Going forward, I trust that they will continue to represent all.

I convey my sincerest best wishes to my colleagues on the town board as they work to resolve the issues that confrontour town now and in the future and my congratulations to Mr. Cook.

I am very thankful for and proud of my staff and the campaign team who worked tirelessly on my behalf. We ran a positive campaign and focused on the difficult issues facing all of us in these challenging economic times.

To my supporters and friends, I will remain forever grateful to you for your loyalty and commitment to me as well as for all of your extremely hard work. I am blessed to have so many wonderful people stand by my side.  My life has certainly been enriched having had the opportunity to serve as your Councilwoman.

Again, thank you and God's blessings to you now and in the future. My victory is to have served you and this great town.

Warm Regards,

Glenda A. Jackson

Councilwoman

Regardless of how you voted, I think that we should commend Ms. Jackson for a relatively clean campaign. In fact, the Town campaigns were generally decent based more on vision and record and not maligning the opposition (well just a little bit). I wish that some of the races for the Suffolk County Legislator had been run the same way (D'Amaro, Spencer, and Poulos maybe being the worst offenders).

@Robert W... Amen! Could you all please take the signs down now.
