Mr. Jadoon, our government (at least for now) cannot interfere with the legal actions of its citizens and the action contemplated is legal. But to say that one should not be "against Islam" means that one does not understand its tenets. Islam (which means submission, NOT "peace") has openly declared its intention to conquer the world and make everyone in it Muslim - or dead. I'm sure that you and other "moderate Muslims" do not hold with that goal, but facts are facts. Islam is NOT "moderate" and countenances "tolerance" and "co-existence" only so long as it is necessary to do so. Anyone who looks at what is happening in Europe and elsewhere understands that.

Finally, the West and the United States never had "the respect and sympathy" of the Muslim community around the world. Our efforts to succor various Muslim states in times of catastrophe has not made us one bit more "popular" with those states because we are not a Muslim state! The only time we GOT respect was when we responded with military force after 9/11. If there is one thing that "non-moderate" Muslims DO respect, it is force and the will to use it. Clinton's lack of response to Muslim attacks on our embassies in Africa and the USS Cole led directly to the attack on 9/11.

I disagree with the act contemplated, but I am more concerned with giving the appearance of bowing to threats by people who have already proven their desire for our destruction.

America is a Multi-cultural country having the natives from far East Asia to the far West with different religions. According to CIA Fact Sheet, total Muslim Population in 2009 is 1.66 billion, 25.4% of total world population. Generally accepted estimate of Muslims in the USA is 2.5 million as of 2009 (0.8%). Some sources mention estimates 6-7 million. President Obama in a 2009 speech in Egypt stated 7 million Muslims in the US. This would make Islam the second most popular religion in the US after Christianity. The Muslims are playing vital role in the prosperity and development of America. In response to the comment of Mr. Valerie Protopapas about Muslim and the meaning of Islam, I would like to say "Yes, the meaning of Islam is total submission to God and to obey his laws and His laws for whole mankind. Burning the Quran is to hurt all the Muslims. I would like to ask Valerie that there are 843 Mosques, 165 Islamic Schools, 426 Associations and 89 Publications of Muslims in USA. Can you code any incident in USA or anywhere, where Muslim burn any Holly book or use disgraceful remarks against any Prophet? According to Islamic teachings Jesus Christ, Moses, Abraham, Joseph, David, John, and Mohammad were the messengers of God. We accept all and respect all Holly books. They will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves under Sharia, the Islamic Law. The ultimate goal of Islam is not to convert the world but to establish Sharia law over the entire world.
