Mr. Schmitt is 150% correct. Truth is the new hate speech. So people who read a blog and don't agree get to have a post removed? Protected speech should be a right for all readers, and telling the truth is not wrong! This article leaves out the other side. The Muslim religion is all about keeping basic human rights away from women. France had it right when they banned the burqua. They stated how could we be a country who espouses freedom and yet allows a group to keep basic human rights away from women? How can America state that they support the Muslim religion? Islam and its central tenets are among the most peaceful of the major religions in the modern world. Like every faith, there are fanatics and extremists who warp and misinterpret the meanings within their holy books - just like Timothy McVeigh and the Ku Klux Klan did with Christianity. Therefore, should we ban Christian churches and make its followers outcasts from our neighborhoods, too, because of the actions of a few extremists? What makes this country great is that we are a collection of diverse individuals who can take a hit (i.e. 9/11), rebuild, and still be the greatest *free* nation on the planet.

One is either for or against the 1st Amendment - one cannot be selective. It is the diverse religious background of those who sought freedom from persecution when they settled in America that established the foundation of the protections guaranteed under the 1st Amendment.

10 years ago, radical Muslims killed nearly 3000 innocent American civilians. Largely they did not attack our military or our leaders, but our innocent populace. That is all I need to know about Islam. I find it offensive and condescending for any Muslim to feel obligated to teach me more about their religion. Would they like to know more about mine? Muslim's should spend their time teaching their own about the peaceful interpretation of Islam, ferreting out extremists in their own congregations and loudly denouncing any hate filled preaching that they may encouner in their Mosque's. This would go a long way towards their acceptance in our culture and be more productive than remiding the rest of us that they are entitled to the same American freedoms that their Brothers hate us for.

Yes, there are Middle Eastern countries where the veils are required by law (namely Iran and Saudi Arabia) and combined those countries have less than 5 percent of the world's Muslims. There are actually more Muslim countries that outright ban the wearing of the veils than there are that require them. They can do that because wearing a veil is not required in Islam but is more of a custom, depending on where you live and who's in charge.

So there's a fantastic chance that in 2012, Sarah Palin will be campaigning for an achievement that Muslim ladies have already accomplished.

Most of civilization wants to live in peace but those in power make moves that threaten that. I don't support terrorism but it is one of those actions that are a result of unneeded conflict. Please read the book by Ayaan Hirsi Ali "Infidel". it's an alarming book that provides insights into the cradle of Islam and how it treats women and anyone who in anyway speak for reforms.

Once you have read Infidel you will begin to understand the complexity of Islam and it's deep rooted traditions, beliefs, absolute non separation of church and state, it's abuse of women and rejection of a pluralistic society. The book speaks not to US moderate Islam but to the cradle being Saudi Arabia. It leaves you questioning if US moderate Islam is the answer for reform or is it on a journey to true Islam as practiced in Saudi Arabia. It show how destructive Islam has been in the Netherlands. The Dutch celebrated their pluralistic society, but now it fears the influence of non tolerant Islam in the country. Yes the US foreign policy has caused hatred in the Arab world and our policies have had tragic consequences, but to blame the US or any outside influence on the beliefs of Islam as practiced in some countries is naive at best or uninformed. So read the book. Also read "Growing up Bin Laden" by Osama Bin Laden's sister. Another look into the cradle of Islam.

Today, the day before the worst attack on America, I am finding myself struggling with whether or not to fear or be brave, as I have been over the years. Tiny Chin is not worried at all. Nothing about Tiny's comments shock me. I am worried enough to be asking my son to come home from college before tomorrow...you know...just in case. I have plans to be at the memorial tomorrow. Should I go with my family or stay home? Tiny wants to discuss history and right now I need to focus on reality. So with that, my dialogue has come to an end. It's very sad and disgusting that so many Americans hate Obama so much, that they will make up any rumor and blindly swear by it. Obama is our elected president. McVeigh was not a Christian, did not carry out the attack in the name of Christianity, Christians world wide did not celebrate, the Pope did not order him to do it, he acted alone and Christians world wide condemned it. 9/11 was ordered by the supreme Muslim leader to carry out the attack in the name of Islam by dozens of people and celebrated by every muslim and not once was ever condemned by any significant muslim leader.
