Little Shelter Gets Holiday Gift

Melville law firm contributes $700 last month for animal soup kitchen.

A Melville law firm found a unique way to give this past holiday season.

Genser Dubow Genser & Cona offered to match employees contributions dollar-for-dollar to Huntington's Little Shelter Animal Rescue — and the result was rewarding for all involved.

Representatives from the elder law and estate planning firm presented the shelter with a $700 check Dec. 16 with the donation specifically designated for the animal soup kitchen which helps the impoverished, elderly, disabled or ill to pay for pet food or medical treatment for their animals.

“We want to encourage and support the elderly in having or keeping their pets and our donation to the animal soup kitchen will do just that," said Jennifer Cona, Esq and managing partner of GDGC, in a press release.

Some of the other GDGC-sponsored programs include: a midnight run to donate food and clothing to the homeless; the Senior Dreams Come True program; nursing home volunteer efforts; and pro bono legal services for veterans through LI Cares.
