Letter to the Editor: King and His Court Fail Subjects
Resident wonders what Supervisor Petrone and the Town Council's next move may be.
To the Editor:
Wake up Huntington subjects, your king has failed you. Years ago, Town Supervisor Frank Petrone and his court revered the designation of Huntington as an All-American city. And then they celebrated by taking a trip to England as confirmation of his status as King of Huntington.
King Frank and his court denied any problems in Huntington Station. They took pride in the day laborer site as their first step in the revitalization program. We were supposed to believe him. It was his decree. He and his court established a Revitalization Committee. We were supposed to be satisfied. And then he and his court established another revitalization committee, and another and another.
He was our benevolent leader along with his court assuring us revitalization. They came up with new names and new press releases: another revitalization committee, a Huntington Station action coalition, a BID, a citizens committee, a task force, and an economic development corporation.
And they succeeded. Just read the headlines: "Teen Shot Near Abrams," "Police Nab Three in Gunrunning Bust," "Illegal Apartments Found," and now "School Closed." Huntington is now a real American City. Praise the king!

Yes, I remember both. I will not embarrass Huntington residents about the All American City -being I attended the first attempt at Atlanta and how our youth was treated by the adults. The trip to England - was paid for by the Huntington Chamber did the Susan Berland and Petrone ever pay back for their fun vacation with Bob Fonte, Dennis Sneeden and didn't it come out that they mostly stayed in London.

Kim, this shows your ignorance and history of huntington station. Dennis Garetano has fought to save Huntington Station for years . He has been a member of South Huntington School Board, citizens of Huntington Station, coached at the High School and little League, Townwide fund of Huntington, Huntington Station Rotary, etc... maybe you need to do some history research before you criticize members of the community who have been trying to save this community for years.
if you did some research, he was asking for a rent payment and the tenant put in a complaint because he didn't want to pay rent....more info to follow.

Dennis G. ran unsuccessfully for Huntington Town Board at least once, Suffolk County Legislature at least once, and was one of the leading proponents of the failed attempt at creating councilmanic districts in Huntington. Arrest aside, I sense a feeling of sour grapes here.............

Maybe Kim could use her investigating skills to give us some answers. Does Frank Petrone and his brother have any real estate LLC's in the Huntington Station area and if so where ? We've heard Frank's brother has business ties with Brad Rosen of OZ Development inc. Is this true ? We also heard that congressman Steve Israel wanted the day labor site closed so as to not ruin his chance of being re-elected. His friend is Brad Rosen who received nearly million dollars for renting out the land used for the day labor site which otherwise is practically worthless. At least a million dollars over ten years was paid by the taxpayers so illegal aliens could find jobs with tax cheating employers and friends of Frank and Steve and family make financial gain. The taxpayers also gained crime and violence so others could profit. Was this fair Kim ? Was this legal Kim ? How can the town of Huntington enforce their building codes when so many past and present government employees and elected officials have a financial stake in keeping the town overdeveloped and over populated ?
Please tell us Kim ? Will we have to close any more public schools because of violence in the near future because those who profit from downzoning and social unrest will always win out no matter what the public thinks or does ? Please tell us Kim.

em, have you ever been so committed to your community that you decided to run for office? have you ever put your family in that position? I think it is commendable for a person to commit so much and run for office....take a position and put everything on the line...win or lose...what say you about that?

Joan Cergol & Kim are best buddies. Dennis G. is one of the most respected people in all of Huntington. Dennis - I want to thank you and for you family - because you are an honest person you have suffered so. The true will be known. Kim talks about logging on to multiple computers - yet she is unemployed, some of theses computers are traced back to Town Hall.

where do you live in Huntington Station and how long have you lived in Huntington Station. I live the avalon idea, but am afraid of this new zoning which could put 4 story buildings throughout the area...what are we going to do with the traffic, and stress on our infrastructure....i don't think its that simple.

Where did you live before moving to huntington station...also, what creative ideas do you have...i'm not sure there is a problem with the height since the bigger buildings will be along the train station....but what about all the traffic....
lauren

Wow Kim, You are admitting there might be a traffic problem? AB and this TOD has got to be about the worst idea for HS. You still don't see that???
She will never actually answer a question directly so don't waste your words!
How much are they paying you to back this again???

Ms. D'Ambrosio.......it does matter where you lived before moving to the station...history tells all......some of us who have lived here and raised our families here and want to raise our grand children here are concerned about who is "representing the community"....is it a problem to let us know where you come from?

dg I believe Ms Ambrosio is a politician she totally danced around your question. My guess is Queens or Hempstead she doesn't mind that look. She likes to live behind a gated community unlike the rest of us.

I might also add that Highview is a GATED community. Enough said there.
I agree 100% with Mr. Garetano, a lifelong resident of HS (I am not, only 30 years, sorry)
I will also state that Highview did not reduce crime in the surrounding area, as Petrone claimed Avalon would do just yesterday at the NAACP rally.
For far too long, our elected officials have treated Huntington Station as the armpit of Huntington Township, and now no amount of deodorant will mask the smell.

I can't believe that you still stick by the story that the fences are to keep the car accidents out, I'm so naive to think it was to keep out rifraf.
As a matter of fact did the Whitman village get the undesirables out of HS. I remember a friends grandmother moving into that affordable housing in her 70's and than getting her face punched in for the $3 in her granny purse, by one of the people that that project moved out of the neighborhood.
And it does matter where you came from before . We are accustomed to our single family homes and nice lawns and neighbors. If I wanted to feel like I lived in the city I would have moved there this is the Burbs. What are you accustomed to looking out your window at? If your used to living in a dump than filth doesn't bother you.

Ms. D'Ambrosio, can't believe you said that :the facts and reality could only be determined if the project goes through and gets built....What is you are wrong....then we will be left with more traffic, sewage, kids in school, and possibly and slum complex...And then what will you do, Move? And leave us homeowners with another problem for the station.....I cannot agree with your logic. I still do not understand why you are so pro Avalon....something is not right here.

ms. D'ambrosio....i think the section 8 program serves a purpose...and do not think that they are all slums..just an fyi....but what if avalon is built and they can't sell the project because of the area...will they leave and have another company run it? Is there any protection from that scenario? I am also tired of all these committees..they do nothing.....The BOE has been trying to work with the Town, but all they have gotten was lip service, false promises, and actual lies...how can we trust this town board....i wish I had your optimism, but sorry to say I don't.....I've been lied to too many times.....

I received a very personal letter from Avalon person(way high up and cc to super important peeople) - what I find interesting is incredible brillant points that they brought up. I will publish this letter when I have digested it. As I was saying that I found most interesting as they refer to the Huntington Station as a "transitioning " - why don't they start the revitiiiization at east 2 to east 6 street. - Now that would be real revilization - not this cherry picking. just a thougth & the letter was just wonderful-- they sure take care of the shareholders and I am so happy to have invested my money with them.
over to you Jane.

Dennis good points on the article. I want add one more here.
I would like to add, that all of us have been asleep at the voters switch for 20 or so years. It is just not our local government that has let down, it starts at the federal level and rolls downward to state, then to county and the Huntington town board. And right now we all have to get rid of all incumbents…..so all can help by voting the incumbents out in November! We have suffered at the hand of all government officials. Crime can be linked to not enforcing laws like immigration, drug trafficking to border control, etc.
It is time to take back America, New York state, Suffolk County, and Huntington township! So all can help and vote in Nov. I hope that those who are complaining voted if not you have no right to do so. Someone on the tattler had posted “Berland and Jackson are up for election so vote them out then ask when is Petrone?”. 120,000 or so voters in “Huntington” LAST NOVEMBER Petrone won by about 500 votes and ONLY 24.58% of the voters made that choice! DID YOU VOTE? Did you want to fix the crime problem by getting officials in who would?
24.58% that’s disgraceful!

I think term limits is a good idea for the Town Board and would like to support Mr. Mayoka on this. BUT first he needs to answer a few questions for the Town of Huntington residents.
First of all,you need to step forward and address the rumor that the real reason you didnt attend the rally of the NAACP about the closing of the school in HS was that you are from the TEA PARTY who happens to being doing battle with the NAACP on a national level regarding claims of racism. And if that is true, then why have you been seen around Town attending other NAACP events? Please Mr. Mayoka set the record straight regarding this rumor whether or not you are from the Tea Party.
Secondly, I would like to know when these term limits would take effect in this resolution that you plan to put forth.
Thirdly, Mr. Mayoka, you have been in office for nearly a year now so it is time that you as our elected official gets held accountable just like the other politicians that many people of this Town have been sending a message to. Mr. Mayoka you no longer get a free pass so we wouldnt stand for excuses like "nobody told me" or I "dont have an opinion". We are looking for leaders in our elected officials and everyone is watching now to see if you fit in this category or if you are going to behave like other electeds who run and hide and then try to get away with just collecting a paycheck.
And lastly, you need to take a firm position regarding Avalon and explain your reasons.

If you want to know what type of people our Town Council and Matt Whelan V.P. Avalon Bay Communities it’s this gentlemen. His name is Ira Tane President of LIBI who made this following statement in the association’s July/August newsletter to their members. This is his quote "Maybe
its time to look for accountability and responsibility from the NIMBYs and that maliciously intended misinformation be subject to legal liability and
punitive damages." Are these the words of somebody that the Town Council should associated with. Are these the words of an educated man or a profiteer who speaks as if he is the next big union boss. What compounds this matter even more is that Matt Whelan is the Chairman of the same association. Frank Petrone has Ira Tane as a friend on Facebook. Is it the voter who the Town Council is accountable to? Yes eventually but for now they are accountable to non voting left wing groups and Ira Tane who appears to want to silence the voter and sue for damages. Mr. Tane they have not yet repealed the First Amendment to the United States Constitution.
The link is provided below for further entertaining reading.
Question: How did this Ira Tane become president of anything? Does
Bryce Blair Chairman of Avalon Bay Communities know that his VP Matthew
Wehlan is the Chairman of this association and is associated with this
union boss wanna be?
