Choral Society Celebrates 50 Years

Golden anniversary performance schedule announced.

 

The Huntington Choral Society has announced plans to the kick off its golden anniversary season with a concert entitled “500 Years of Great Choruses, 50 years of a Great Chorus.” 

Included in the Dec. 10 show at Huntington High School will be favorite selections from the group’s repertoire. 

Founded in 1962 by Dorothea Waddell, the HCS is directed by Steven Finch, with piano accompaniment by Christine Doré. 

Past performances have included shows with well-known orchestras, including the New York Virtuosi, Long Island Symphony, Nassau Symphony, and Opera Orchestra of New York in such venues as Carnegie Hall, Tilles Center and Hofstra University.

Other upcoming performances include:

  • The annual "Messiah Sing-Along," Dec. 12 at 8 p.m. at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs in Centerport. 
  • The second part of the Society’s golden anniversary season will be "Brahms’ Ein Deutches Requiem," performed with full professional orchestra and soloists April 28 at Huntington High School.
