Cash Mob Set For Thursday

Value Drugs chosen as first recipient of COC program to buy local, stimulate business.

The Huntington Township Village Merchants Committee will be initiating a monthly “Cash Mob” at local businesses in Huntington Village beginning Thursday. 

The concept of the program is to get a group of people to meet at a specific business at a set time with each person spending a little money to boost sales. Cash mobs have become popular in towns throughout the nation in since last year.

Value Drugs has been chosen by the COC as the first recipient of the program in Huntington.

“If everyone spends some amount of money during the ‘Cash Mob,’ this will have a positive impact on our village and its merchants. But more importantly, it reminds people to buy local, said Patricia Grant, chair of the Chamber’s Village Merchants Committee. “This innovative program will not only show support for local business but also remind residents just how committed the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce is to supporting local merchants. The more people we can get there, the bigger impact we can make.”

According to the Chamber, , one the COC's longest standing members and biggest supporters, was selected to kick-off the campaign because of its contributions to the organization through the years and because of the efforts of owner, Peter Pastorelli, Jr.

“He is always willing to take on whatever we need him to do and this was one way we could give back,” Grant added.

The Feb. 16 event begins at 6 p.m. Refreshments will be served and all participants will receive a 20 percent discount on bills.
