Jersey Shore's Snooki Rocks Book Revue
MTV reality TV star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi comes to Huntington to sign her book and greet hundreds of fans – and their parents.

The Jersey Shore came to Huntington Village’s Book Revue Tuesday with hundreds of tweens and teens impersonating the reality TV stars for the book signing by Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, author of “A Shore Thing.”
The first customers in line arrived at the store around 9 a.m., according to employees.
“We sold out of our stock. I got in at 2:30 p.m., but people were here way before that. We had over 500 books and we’ve been selling them for about a week,” employee Greg Fox said.
Many teens came with their parents, brought pizza and coffee and donned “poofs” and Ed Hardy apparel for the occasion. One group of girls brought a package of pickles with their Twitter handles, in hopes that Snooki would enjoy the treat and in return follow them.
Elena Ginobbi, 12, of Levittown and Erin Chefalas, 13, of Hicksville, were first on line at the mezzanine level. Ginobbi donned a cast sweatshirt, with the original photo of the cast from season one. Both girls came to meet Snooki and have their books signed, books they haven’t read yet.
“I wanna go to the shore. The show is crazy, just the way they act,” Chefalas said.
Ashley Bua, 18 of Miller Place, Andrew Gasparre, 18 of Lake Grove and Blair Savitsky, 18 of Commack, arrived at 10 a.m. to secure their spot online.
“We’re here because we love Snooki,” Bua said. Saviskty said she was hoping for a picture with the star.
Tina and Jeff Greeneberg, of Flushing brought their 12-year-old son, Nicholas, to the signing and Nicholas also brought a gift for Snooki – a bouquet of roses, complete with sparkly hearts.
The Greenebergs arrived a little after 5 p.m. and said they chose Huntington because they couldn’t make it to her Borders signing in Manhattan nor her appearance in Jersey.
“He watches the show, but you take it for what it is. I’d be embarrassed if my kid was on it. For him though, it’s like how I used to watch cartoons,” Jeff said.
Other parents echoed Jeff’s sentiments, as many waited on the couches for their children to finish the event.
“Kids won’t emulate it. If you know your kids you know they won’t use them as role models,” Cindy Hoffman, of Smithtown, said. Hoffman brought her 17-year-old daughter to the event.

The fixation of today's youth on these reality stars and their ilk is so awfully sad. Worse, this idol worship is being aided and abetted by their parents. Yes, mother, they DO use them as role models: children and teens copy their fashion, their mannerisms, their speech, their attitudes. I teach high school and I see it all the time. Do your children watch Nat Geo as much as The Khardashians, Jersey Shore, 16 and Pregnant and the like? My guess would be NO.
I weep for the future.

I think this signing was a very fun experience for my daughter her friends and my good friend, should we worry that our kids are going to look up to them as role model's the answer is no. As for watching National Geographic come on what 17 year old want's to watch NG, Our daughters are honor student's along with many of their friends & peers, Things could be worse than going to a book signing, I know where my daughter is every day, Idol worship I think not, I asked her what she thinks about the show her response is it's funny I don't take it seriously & I would'nt do the things they do Mom because I know better, Is the show for tweens no it is not & maybe parent's should watch the show before letting the younger children watch it. My advice to Angelock is to lighten up!!!

The kind of kids that watch Nat Geo are the ones that grow up to be corporate CEOs, finders of cures for cancer, and Rhodes scholars. As I have heard more than one teacher advise their students, "Be nice to the nerds, for you will end up working for one." The worst thing that ever happened to this country is when parents became "cool".

Watch Nat Geo--->Cure Cancer. Got it.
I guess no doctors have ever watched Nat Geo because no one has seemed to cure cancer yet.
It's obvious you hate the show and I don't disagree that is pretty useless overall, but that is one heck of a leap.

I'm not a parent but being that I am 31 I can see the middle ground here. I see a lot of young girls these days wearing clothes they shouldn't and acting like little tramps. I question a lot of parents on this issue. I can only assume kids are getting these ideas from people in the media. I think its safe to say, Snooki and her embarrassing roommates on the Jersey Shore are horrible role models and a waste of TV.
Whether you like it or not, young people are watching the show and its sad because there are so many other great programs on they would love. The fact is, the show is seriously a joke. Your kids may be laughing at them but in the process, they are influenced by them as well. I don't watch or support the show because I am sick of these reality shows revolving around stupid, boring and uneducated people. TV has slowly gone down the drain...

Every generation has it's racy item that parents won't understand. Will some kids copy it and strive to become that? of course. But like Eminem's music in the early 00's, Beavis and Butthead in the 90's, Madonna in the 80's...heck Elvis in the 50's parents despised!!!! So on and so forth it's just a phase. I give the show one more season before it gets the ax before something newer and supposedly worse comes about. Come on people...remember all the celebrities you followed in your teens and how much your parents hated them and thought they were poisoning YOU??!?! Don't even pretend you NEVER had your Jersey Shore. Remember, teenagers are rebellious by nature and will always like what their parents don't want them too.
