Restaurant Joanina Owners Donate $6K to Jefferson Primary
The owners of Restaurant Joanina have donated $4,800 to the Huntington School District for use at Jefferson Primary School, their alma mater, for use in purchasing high-tech educational equipment for classrooms.
The donation represents a portion of the proceeds generated from a special event to help launch the restaurant, which is at the site of the former Renaissance Gourmet Deli. "A Toast in Tuscany" featured authentic fresh Italian food, wine tasting, refreshments, live music and food raffles.
The donation will be paired with one for $1,200 from the Jefferson PTA to fund the purchase of four interactive SMART Boards for cutting edge lessons in classrooms.
Located at 35A Gerard Street in the heart of Huntington village, Restaurant Joanina is operated by the Oliva family, which has deep roots in the community, and as alumni, an affinity for the Huntington School District. The Oliva's have a long tradition of "giving back" to the community and chose Jefferson School because of their personal connection to that building.
